USA Racquetball Announces Appointment of New Executive Director
Board of Directors Names Jason Thoerner as CEO
Colorado Springs, CO -- The Board of Directors of USA Racquetball today announced the appointment of Jason B. Thoerner, most recently president of the board of directors, to the position of executive director, effective November 1, 2016.
Thoerner possesses vast experience in the sport of racquetball, having been a member of the US National Team for 10 consecutive years; a representative for Head/Penn for 7 years as a district sales manager; and a USAR board member, officer, and athlete representative since 2012.
While a move from board president to executive director could be deemed non-traditional, Thoerner's leadership in effecting a smooth transition following the resignation of former Executive Director Steve Czarnecki in late August demonstrated to the board that USAR's strategic initiatives and financial management will be in excellent hands.
Dan Whitley, treasurer and executive committee member, commented, "Congratulations to Jason in his new role with USA Racquetball! I have nothing but compliments to offer on the way he has led the organization since becoming president in May of this year. I know I speak for the entire board when I say that we are looking forward to his continued leadership in the role of executive director as we all work to continually strengthen USA Racquetball's impact on and contributions to the sport, both domestically and internationally."
Commenting on his new position, Thoerner said, "It is a huge honor to be selected by USA Racquetball's Board of Directors to the position of executive director. I look forward to guiding USA Racquetball, an organization that has given me so much personally over the 30+ years I have been involved in the sport as a player, club manager, US Team member, and board of directors member. I am excited to work with our staff, board of directors, partners and members to continue the growth of our exciting game. I would like to thank my family, friends, and the entire USA Racquetball Board of Directors for this incredible opportunity to give back to the sport of Racquetball on a daily basis."
