Colorado Springs, CO – In its press release dated today, the Association of (IOC) Recognised International Sports Federations (ARISF) announced that its members elected a new President and Council this past Monday, May 27, 2013, in St. Petersburg, Russia. The 33 International Sport Federation members of ARISF are each recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the "World Governing Authority" for their respective sport. Collectively, they represent hundreds of millions of sport practitioners and fans.
The International Racquetball Federation (IRF) is pleased to announce that Dr. Keith Calkins, IRF President Emeritus, has been re-elected to a third term as a Director on the sixmember ARISF Council. This is a great honor for Dr. Calkins and for the sport of racquetball. Upon learning of his re-election, Dr. Calkins stated, "These election results were critical for ARISF. The leadership of newly elected President Raffaele Chiulli will have a dynamic effect on the ARISF membership. These are exciting times for ARISF, and there will many changes during the next four years. ARISF must be proactive during this period, and I am delighted to be a part of this excellent team as we move forward in the World of International Sport. I believe my past experience with ARISF and other sports organizations will serve to provide direction and support in achieving the Council’s goals.”
IRF President Osvaldo Maggi added, “We are very happy that Keith was re-elected as an ARISF Director. With new Council representation, it will mean that we can foster a closer relationship with the IOC and its future programs. I congratulate Keith on his re-election and for doing such a commendable job in cementing relations with key leaders in the Olympic movement.”
