In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, now perhaps more than ever, it is important to remember that the Olympic Games are a celebration not only of sport but of basic human values. These Olympic values are; Respect. To play fairly and take care of your health and the environment. Friendship. Work to understand others even if you have differences. Excellence. Try to become the best at whatever you do. June 23,1894 is remembered as the anniversary of the acceptance of Coubertin’s “grand experiment” by what would become the first International Olympic Committee and laid the foundation for the first Olympic Games of 1896 in Athens. This is of great importance to the world of Pentathlon as it was Coubertin himself who created our sport as a test of the complete athlete. So on this day remember our rich heritage and everyday practice not only your sport, but the Olympic values.
