Prague, Czech Republic -  The fourth and final stop of the World Cup season takes us to Prague, Czech Republic. This is the last chance to get points from World Cups that will count towards Pan Am Games selection. All athletes will be looking to move up the rankings to help put them in a position to qualify for the Pan Am Games. Top 2 ranked men and top 3 ranked women after the US National Championships qualify for the Pan Am Games Team. Pan Am Games is an important one because it is an Olympic Qualification competition.

Team USA will have a full team, 4 women and 4 men, at World Cup #4. The women’s team is led by USA’s number one ranked athlete, Samantha Achterberg. She is currently 31st in this season’s World Cup standings and another solid performance should get her an invite to the World Cup Final next month. Isabella Isaksen is currently ranked number two in the Pan Am Games selection and she will be looking to gain more points to help get her on that team. Jessica Davis is sitting in the number three spot as she too is fighting to make the Pan Am Games Team. Competing in her first World Cup this season is Ania Olesinski. Ranked number four, she will be competing for points to get into the top three in the USA ranking.

Team USA men are being led by Amro Elgeziry. He has a shot at qualifying for World Cup Final by getting a strong result and improving his World Cup ranking of 38th.  Also competing for Team USA are Tyler Evans and Brendan Anderson, ranked number two and three, respectively. They are separated by just 5 points and both are looking to score more points at this World Cup to help them qualify for the Pan Am Games. The fourth athlete on the men’s team is Sam Ruddock, who just came off his best fencing result at the last World Cup. He will look to put it all together and fight to get into the final.

Competition starts on May 23rd with the women’s semi-final. Be sure to check www.usapentathlon.org for daily updates. GO TEAM USA!!!
