Sgt ElGeziry Wins US Nationals

San Antonio, TX – Sgt. Amro ElGeziry, Colorado Springs, CO, a member of the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program (WCAP) led the competition from first event to the final event and won the 2019 USA Pentathlon Men’s Individual National Championship.

Sgt. ElGeziry won the fencing event with 297 pentathlon points. He then won the swimming event with 320 pentathlon points. He finished up with 275 pentathlon points in riding and 571 points in the laser run. His total for the day was 1,450 pentathlon points.

Sam Ruddock, Cleveland, OH, took the second spot with 1,425 points. Sam was tied for first place in the riding event with 300 pentathlon points. He picked up 245 points in fencing, 310 points in swimming and 570 points in the laser run event.

Third place went to Youth Olympian Brendan Anderson, Colorado Springs, CO with1,413 pentathlon points. Brendan was also tied in first place in the riding event with 300 points.

Just missing out of a medal was fourth place finisher Tyler Evans. Tyler had the fastest laser run time of 11:38 worth 602 pentathlon points, but struggled in the riding event with only 224 points. Tyler finished the day with 1,359 points, one point ahead of Seamus Millett.
