ElGeziry and Anderson Win Silver in Men's Relay

Lima, Peru – Amro ElGeziry and Brendan Anderson won the silver medal in the pentathlon men’s relay at the Pan American Games being held at the Chorrillos Military School in Lima, Peru. The day started with the fencing ranking round in which Amro and Brendan had 16 victories and 10 defeats achieving 235 pentathlon points and starting out in fourth place.

With swimming as the second event, the pair who both reside in Colorado Springs, CO swam the second fastest time of the day 1:55.11 worth 320 points. Next up was the fencing bonus round where they picked up an additional point.

The riding event again saw the team finish in second position with a score of 274 points. They had 7 obstacle penalty points and 19 time points.

Amro and Brendan both had a strong laser run with fine shooting and strong running to finish in a time of 10:53.00 picking up 647 points earning them a total of 1,476 points falling just 9 points shy of the gold medal.

Amro will be teaming up with his wife Isabella Isaksen tomorrow in the mixed relay. Both Amro and Isabella are members of the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program (WCAP). Amro is a sergeant and Isabella is a Specialist.

After the Pan Am Games, the UIPM Pentathlon World Championship will take place in September in Budapest, Hungary.

Yesterday, Amro qualified to compete in the 2020 Olympic Games, which will be his fourth Olympics. Brendan who has previously competed in the Youth Olympic Games, picked up valuable Olympic qualifying points and he continues his quest to qualify to compete in the 2020 Olympic Games.
