Director of the NSCA, Scott Caulfield tries fencing at the Olympic Training Center!

Dec. 05, 2018, 12 a.m. (ET)
The sport of Modern Pentathlon involves running, swimming, equestrian show jumping, fencing, and the combined (laser shoot and run).  Scott Caulfield, director of the NSCA tries fencing for the first time.  This dynamic and strategic sport is one of the hardest of the five to master taking skill, power, endurance and a chess like mindset.

To have the explosive power needed to be a champion fencer an athlete must spend time in the gym developing a base level of lower limb strength then progressively build into advanced plyometric movements while still maintaining the eye-hand coordination that connects a fencer to their blade.
Keep an eye out for Scott at the Next US Olympic Hopeful tryouts, 2024 is just around the corner!!
