U.S. Army Captain Mickey Kelly (Colorado Springs, Colo.) finished in 35th place on Saturday at the 2012 UIPM World Cup Final in Chengdu, China. The event was the final Olympic qualification competition for the London Olympic Games.

Kelly placed 34th in the fencing competition with 11 victories and was 30th in the swim with a time of 2:28.66. After suffering through a disastrous ride where she placed 35th and gained 656 points out of a possible 1200, Kelly finished up with the 33rd-best time in the combined run/shoot in a time of 13:06.45, giving her a total of 4192 points.

Taking top honors at the event was Lithuania's Laura Asadauskaite with 5312 points. She was followed by Great Britain's Heather Fell with 5248 points and Brazil's Yane Marques with 5200 points.

Many of the pentathletes, including Kelly, now have to wait until June 1 to find out if they have won one of the priceless World Ranking Olympic Qualification spots. The U.S. has already qualified two athletes for the London Games, Dennis Bowsher (Dallas, Texas) in the men's event and Margaux Isasksen (Fayetteville, Ark.) in the women's event.
