The World Championships in Rome, Italy, this week (May 7-13) mark the last opportunity for the majority of Team USA members to earn all-important Olympic qualification points. Entering into these championships, four men and four women are fighting for the coveted two male and two female Olympic berths available to the USA. Only a few points separate the American athletes, making the results of these world championships more important than ever in their quest for London.
USA Pentathlon athletes selected to compete in the World Championships are Captain Mickey Kelly (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Marguax Isaksen (Fayetteville, Ark.), Suzanne Stettinius (Parkton, Md.) and Samantha Achterberg (Littleton, Colo.) making up the women’s team, while Specialist Dennis Bowsher (Dallas, Texas), Sam Sacksen (Somerset, Pa.), Eli Bremer (Monument, Colo.) and Will Brady (Howell, Mich.) comprise the men’s team. USA Coaching staff attending the championships are Team Leader Genadijus Sokolovas, Head Coach Janusz Peciak, Fencing Coach Michael Aufrichtig and Riding Coach Richard Lamb.
