For the first time in over a year, two American women competed in the final round of the same World Cup event. It happened on Saturday at Modern Pentathlon's World Cup #4 in Rostov, Russia, as U.S. team members Mickey Kelly (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Rendy Opdycke (Los Angeles, Calif.) went head-to-head with the world's best pentathletes.

Kelly, a captain in the U.S. Army, had the eighth-fastest time in the combined run/shoot event among the field of 36 athletes. Her time of 12:02.21 moved her from 31st place to 24th in the overall final standings with 4,972 points.

Opdycke posted the fifth-fastest swim time with a clocking of 2:15.35. She finished in 31st place with 4,848 points.

The gold medal went to Belarus' Anastaysia Prokopenko who shot a world record time of 8.74 seconds on her second round of shooting in the combined event and then overtook leader Samantha Murray of Great Britain on the final lap of the run to win with 5,392 points. Ukraine's Victoria Tereshuk placed second with 5,352 points while Murray finished third with 5,344 points.

The next event on the calendar for the U.S. team are the World Championships in Rome, Italy, which begin on May 7.
