The world's best pentathletes are heading east to Rostov, Russia, for World Cup #4 which runs April 19-22. The Rostov World Cup is the last World Cup of the year and the final opportunity for the pentathletes to gain valuable World Cup ranking points to qualify them for the lucrative World Cup Final in Chengdu, China, next month which will be key for their Olympic qualification. Rostov, the home of double Olympic champion Andrei Moiseev will be hosting a World Cup for the first time.
The U.S. men’s team at this week's World Cup is comprised of Dennis Bowsher (Dallas, Texas), Sam Sacksen (Somerset, Pa.), Eli Bremer (Monument, Colo.) and Will Brady (Howell, Mich.), while the women’s squad is made up of Samantha Achterberg (Littleton, Colo.), Suzanne Stettinius (Parkton, Md.), Michelle Kelly (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Rendy Opdycke (Los Angeles, Calif.).
Fans around the world will have the chance to watch these and other great athletes live and share in the excitement of Modern Pentathlon. UIPM will broadcast the finals live on Pentathlon TV at pentathlon.org on 21-22 April 2012. The broadcast will feature the ride, combined event and medal ceremony live and highlights of the fencing and swimming.
The Russian World Cup is the fourth in a series of five events in the coming two months which will culminate in the World Cup final to be held in Chengdu, China on 26-27 May 2012.
