PARK CITY, Utah – USA Luge took a second bronze medal Saturday in the team competition to close the Park City Junior World Cup with a total of five medals.

Ashley Farquharson, Zachary Digregorio and the doubles team of Dana Kellogg and Duncan Segger teamed for third place. The results mimicked the first team event on Thursday that saw a Germany-Russia-USA order of finish.

In addition to these efforts, the women’s doubles team of Maya Chan, of Chicago, and Reannyn Weiler, of Whitesboro, N.Y., left Utah with a pair of silver medals in the first-ever international competitions in this new discipline. The event will be included in the 2020 Youth Olympic Games, and hopes to be considered for the Winter Games in 2026.

USA Luge also received a bronze medal from Ian Smith, of Carlisle, Mass., on Wednesday at the 2002 Olympic sliding venue.

Junior singles opened Saturday’s racing schedule. Once again, Farquharson was the top American on her home track, finishing seventh. She was almost 0.4 of a second behind German winner Anna Berreiter. Sophie Kirkby, of Ray Brook, N.Y. was 16th; Elana Morrison, of Muskegon, Mich., 21st; and Chevonne Forgan, of Chelmsford, Mass., 23rd.

The ensuing junior men’s race saw Zachary Digregorio, of Medway, Mass., lead the U.S. in sixth place. Keaton Jens, of St. Charles, Ill., was 11th; Sean Hollander, of Lake Placid, was 13th; and Luke Voegeli, of Sun Prairie, Wisc., 16th.

In the team competition that brought the week to a close, Farquharson and Digregorio put USA Luge in position for some hardware, but it was the doubles team of Kellogg, of Chesterfield, Mass., and Segger, of Lake Placid, that made it a reality. The pair came through with the third fastest doubles run to bring home the bronze medal.

The Junior World Cup departs Park City – destination Calgary, where racing resumes Friday and Saturday on the 1988 Olympic course that just saw a weekend of World Cup racing. It produced a silver medal in the team relay for the U.S. national team.
