LAKE PLACID, N.Y.— With approximately 85 days to the start of the Pyeongchang Winter Games, and only one month until the nomination of its Olympic team, USA Luge has announced a new five-year partnership with Duluth Trading Company.
The maker of ingenious workwear designed and tested by tradesmen, Duluth Trading will become the Official Off-Sled Outfitter of USA Luge athletes and staff.
Duluth Trading Company, headquartered in Belleville, Wisc., will provide USA Luge with the brand’s signature vests, pants, socks, boots and other cold-weather essentials. USA Luge racers will have access to a full complement of Duluth gear — everything to keep them warm, comfortable, and working hard in international competition.
“We are proud to have Duluth Trading on board as a sponsor of USA Luge, and we are excited about the future of our relationship,” said Gordy Sheer, USA Luge Director of Marketing and Sponsorships, and 1998 Olympic silver medalist. “American luge athletes and coaches spend long days in harsh, cold conditions to fine-tune technique and build better results. That’s why Duluth Trading makes a perfect team member. In addition to their highly-capable clothing, Duluth’s constantly working to fine-tune and improve everything they do.”
The USA Luge and Duluth Trading Company partnership will officially commence on November 17, 2017, just in time for the start of World Cup luge racing to qualify for the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang. The “Official Off-Sled Outfitter” designation enables Duluth Trading Company to include USA Luge marks and logo in marketing, public relations and social media campaigns, and partner with USA Luge athletes at events.
“We’re excited to outfit USA Luge with the gear they need to get the job done,” said Stephanie Pugliese, President and Chief Executive Officer at Duluth Trading. “Duluth builds innovative products for folks who value hardworking functionality and performance, so becoming the Official Off-Sled Outfitter of these world class athletes is a natural fit. We look forward to cheering on the team over the next five years.”
Team USA will be outfitted from head-to-toe in product designed to fight frosty temps, deliver superior functionality and facilitate freedom of movement. This includes:
Duluth will provide the women of USA Luge with the No YankÒ Tank, the brand’s wildly popular undershirt, that’s designed to stay put even while athletes are on-the-go between races.
