New Updated SafeSport Training from the US Center for SafeSport

Dec. 23, 2017, 9:33 p.m. (ET)

Attention all referees, coaches, instructors and club owners:

Beginning immediately, all USA Karate Official and Coach members will be required to complete the FREE updated training course supplied by the U.S. Center for SafeSport. This course replaces the material previously found on the TeamUSA Training site, and consists on one 45 minute course. As a reminder, compliance with SafeSport is a condition of membership per our Bylaws.

SafeSport training must be completed every one (1) year. Therefore, anyone who is due to renew their SafeSport training or is completing training for the first time will need to complete the new course.

We urge everyone take the new training as soon as possible, even if it has been less than one year since you completed the old version.  The updated materials will ensure your full understanding of SafeSport now that the program is under the jurisdiction of the US Center for SafeSport.

Information regarding completing SafeSport training can be found on the membership hub at www.usakaratemembership.com.

Also, please note that this training is available FREE to everyone, not just those in the categories listed above and we recommend that everyone takes the courses – especially athletes and parents of athletes – in order to be fully informed on how to spot the signs of abuse, and how to react appropriately and effectively if you suspect misconduct.
