USA Judo

Members of the community are invited to try judo for free at a local dojo to experience the sport of judo. All ages are welcome!

In an effort to grow awareness of the sport of judo in the United States, USA Judo and its clubs are offering “Try Judo for Free” promotions for the following two times per year:

Olympic Day June 22-23, 2019

World Judo Day October 26-28, 2019

Judo is a dynamic combat sport that demands both physical prowess and great mental discipline. From a standing position, it involves techniques that allow you to lift and throw your opponent onto their back. On the ground, it includes techniques that allow you to pin your opponent down to the ground, control them, and apply various choke-holds and joint locks until submission.

Beyond the development of physical and athletic ability, judo students learn how to control their feelings, emotions, and impulses through the judo moral code (Courtesy, Courage, Friendship, Honesty, Honor, Modesty, Respect, and Self-Control). Through experiences, judoka learn values that contribute to their development as successful citizens of society.

There are no associated fees for participants for the Try Judo for Free events.

For more information or to sign up to participate as a club, contact Corinne Shigemoto at or 719-201-6176.
