Martin L. Bregman, Ph.D., 76, of Tulsa died Saturday , May 22, 2021 in Tulsa. He was born in Manhattan, New York City on April 18, 1945 to Sam and Eve Cherkis Bregman. He married Adrea Ann Rubenstein and she preceded him in death in 1988.

Dr. Bregman was a geophysicist working in both the oil & gas industry and teaching on the college level. His life's passion was Judo and he had been Director of Referees for Oklahoma and Texas Judo as well as an International Judo Federation Olympic Qualified Judo Referee. He was the owner and founder of the Tulsa Judo Club and an 8th Degree Black Belt, United States Judo. His many accomplishments include: Three (3) times national masters USA Judo Champion and 10 times national medalist; 2005 Jim Thorpe Sports Association male martial artist of the year; refereed the 1995 & 99 World Judo Championships; Former Vice-Chairman of the USA Judo Referees Committee; Judo Matt Supervisor for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, GA; 1994 US Judo Team Chief Scout, Los Angeles Olympics; and Coached 40 National and International Champions and 130 National or International Medalists.

He is survived by a daughter, Meredith Commender of Dallas; a son, Seth Daniels of Denver; a sister, Sandy Leigh of Woodstock, GA; 5 grandchildren: Carter Daniels, Gabriel Daniels, Jacoby Daniels, Brendan Commender and Kendall Commender; best friend, Tom Sowell; and many friends.

A celebration of life was held on Sunday, May 30, 2020 - 2:00 PM at Moore Southlawn Chapel, 9350 E. 51st St., Tulsa. A reception followed at the funeral home Family Center. For additional information, call 918-663-2233. Moore's Southlawn.
