We hope this finds you and your family healthy and safe during these unprecedented times. We are writing to provide you several USA Judo updates as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic:

  • The USA Judo Sr. National Championships scheduled for May 16-17, 2020, in Daytona Beach, FL has been postponed. We wanted to make the decision now since we have received a few inquiries this week. We are looking at options for hosting this event later this year and will send details as soon as they are confirmed. Registration refunds are available as well as credit toward another USA Judo event over the next 12 Months. Please communicate your preference to Corinne Shigemoto ( or 719-201-6176) by May 1, 2020. More information will be shared soon regarding the re-scheduling of IJF & Cadet Pan Am and World Championships Trials.

  • The USA Judo Jr. Olympics National & International Championships scheduled for June 19-21, 2020, in Winston-Salem, NC, is still scheduled to occur as planned. We will continue monitoring the feasibility of hosting the event, taking into account what is the safest and in the best interest of everyone involved.

USA Judo realizes that dojos are currently closed and you are not able to practice or compete. However, we are grateful to hear that many dojo members have continued paying their memberships in support of keeping the dojos open until this pandemic comes to an end.

USA Judo is also a small business that relies on membership dues, event registrations and the generosity of donors. Given the current economic climate and postponed events, these primary revenue streams for USA Judo are nearly non-existent.

Many USA Judo memberships have lapsed recently, and we understand you may not want to renew while not able to get on the tatami at this time. We don’t want you to worry about having your USA Judo Membership renewed when the dojos are hopefully back open in the next several weeks So, to help you be ready to ‘hit the mat throwing”, USA Judo is offering you the opportunity to renew or join between today, March 27, 2020, and Friday April 3, 2020 to receive three extra months of membership*. That’s 15 months of membership for the price of 12 months! This membership offer is only valid for the following membership categories:

  • Adult 17 years+ new membership, ($75)
  • First time Youth membership (16 yrs and under) ($45)
  • Full membership renewals ($75)

*Does not apply to PAL/POPP, Trial, Family, Judo in Schools, Dual or Lifetime Memberships.

As a reminder, you can renew your membership now even if you have a current membership. The renewal membership will go into effect when your current membership lapses, so you don’t lose any time on your membership. Please contact Corinne Shigemoto with any questions. Thank you for your consideration and please stay healthy and safe!
