Dusseldorf Grand Slam provides opportunity to earn valuable Olympic qualification points

USA Judo’s top 2020 Olympic hopefuls and senior elite level athletes will be looking to earn valuable Olympic qualification and world ranking points this weekend in Germany at the Dusseldorf Grand Slam International Judo Federation World Tour event.

 

The 2020 Dusseldorf Grand Slam will be held February 21-23 at the 6,500 seat ISS Dome in Dusseldorf. Close to 700 competitors from 117 countries are expected to compete. Top USA Judo Olympic contender and 2016 Olympian, Angelica Delgado (Ki-itsu-sai National Training Center/NYAC) will lead the team looking to solidify her Olympic standing. On the men’s side, Adonis Diaz (Ki-itsu-sai National Training Center/NYAC) is hoping a strong showing in this event will propel him to a strong finish of the rest of the Olympic qualification period.  John Jayne and Amelia Fulgentes (Ki-itsu-sai National Training Center) will be looking to ride the momentum from their performances in the Paris Grand Slam just two weeks ago where they earned 160 and 120 points respectfully.
