Jose Rodriguez Named USA Judo's General Secretary to the IJF

Sept. 06, 2016, 6:18 p.m. (ET)

During the August USA Judo Board of Directors Meeting, it was unanimously decided that former executive director, Jose Rodriguez, will continue to hold his appointment to the International Judo Federation’s (IJF) Executive Committee as a representative of USA Judo through the end of 2016.  At that time his continuation in this role will be evaluated by the board of directors and USA Judo Executive Director, Keith Bryant.

Jose was elected to the IJF Executive Board in September of 2013 serving as the Development Director.

While the appointment is individualized by person rather than by country, the IJF still requires its board members to have affiliation with their national federation, usually in the capacity of General Secretary.  With scheduled and future potential IJF events and programs to occur in the United States, Jose will introduce Keith to IJF officials and help facilitate the continued planning and delivery of IJF events and ongoing international relations.

Jose’s role as General Secretary of USA Judo is as a volunteer position. Since Jose will not be involved in the daily operations of USA Judo, the Florida office will close on September 30, 2016.

The USA Judo Board of Directors and Staff are grateful for Jose’s service to USA Judo.  During Jose’s tenure as executive director, membership rose, international exposure and relationships increased and USA Judo achieved its best finishes ever at the 2012 and 2016 Olympic & Paralympic Games.  USA Judo looks forward to continued collaboration with Jose on international relations and IJF matters.
