WHO IS YOUR BIGGEST MENTOR/INSPIRATION IN JUDO?
My coach, Brett Wolf has been my mentor, motivation, and inspiration for over 9 years and I wouldn’t be where I am without him. When I first started judo I hated it and was going to quit, but disappointing Brett wasn’t something I couldn’t handle, so I stuck with it. Now, Brett pushes me to be the best person I can be, on and off the mat. He’s changed my life and I’m incredibly grateful to him.

WHAT WOULD IT MEAN TO YOU TO COME HOME WITH A MEDAL?
Being the youngest and lightest male on the team, it would be the highlight of my life up until this point to win a medal at the world championships. It’s the only thing that’s mattered to me this whole year and medaling would be the most insane feeling ever. Being a world medalist is something you live the rest of your life with and no one can ever take it away from you.

WHO IS THE FIRST PERSON YOU CALL WHEN YOU WIN A MEDAL?
When I win a medal at a big tournament, the first person I call is my dad. He’s not allowed to watch me fight because he’s bad luck and I’m very superstitious, but he can’t wait to hear how I did. He makes winning a medal that much sweeter when he’s on the other line congratulating me and telling everyone he’s with that his son is a champion. I couldn’t ask for a better dad.
