
Celebrating Women’s Judo
As part of our “Celebration of the Women in Judo” campaign in October and November of this year, USA Judo has a number of events coming up that we want to showcase. The events that we will be observed consist of the 40th Anniversary of Women’s Judo Championship, International Day of the Girl, judo demonstrations at the brand new Olympic and Paralympic Musuem, and World Judo Day.
Descriptions of each are posted below:
October 11th
International Day of the Girl
USA Judo is requesting that female judokas send in videos describing how judo has helped them in their lives and how judo has developed them as a person both on and off the mat. Video submissions will be posted to the USA Judo “International Day of the Girl” page.

Judo Demo at USOPM
USA Judo will be one of the first NGBs to hold demonstrations at the new USOPM for the public to show what judo training and competition consists of. We will have current and former judokas assisting in these activities to help celebrate the upcoming World Judo Day.

Word Judo Day – Stronger Together
The World Judo Day initiative by the International Judo Federation aims to promote the values of our sport as they have been designed from its inception. USA Judo wants to promote a global awareness on the values of judo and its education system to all judo clubs and all judoka.

November 29th - 30th
40th Anniversary of Women’s Championship
USA Judo is celebrating Rena “Rusty” Kanokogi for being a pioneer in women’s judo and hosting the first Women’s World Judo Championships in New York City 40 years ago.
