Updated January 11, 2022

The 2022 World Championships will be held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan August 7-14, 2022. The team will consist of 18 total athletes, 9 male and 9 female, based off the current IJF World Ranking List (WRL) that includes all results through June 7, 2022. This list will be used to identify the 9 highest ranking male athletes and the 9 highest ranking female athletes. The ranking will be based on IJF World Ranking List points (WRL).

Under the IJF 2022-2024 Rules, athletes must be in the Top 100 on the Senior WRL or the Top 16 on the Junior WRL. Priority of selection will be the Senior WRL and additional slots will be filled by the Junior WRL, if applicable. All selections will be based on the number of accrued points per weight division on the IJF World Ranking List (WRL).

There will be a maximum of 2 athletes in any single weight category. If a category has already been filled by 2 athletes, no other athletes may be considered for that category, unless there is a subsequent withdrawal from one of the two occupied slots. In the case of such a withdrawal, the next eligible person on the IJF World Ranking List, will be selected to the team providing their weight division has unfilled slots. This will continue until all 9 slots are filled for men and for women.

These athletes will be the selected to the 2022 Senior World Championships Team.

The above criteria is based on the current IJF eligibility rules. If the IJF changes eligibility rules USA Judo reserves the right to modify the 2022 Senior World Championships Team criteria.
