2019 Athlete Funding Criteria revised 2/27/2019

Quarterly Stipends *

  • All eligible athletes must maintain a Top-16 IBSA Ranking.

  • Athletes will qualify for Direct Athlete Support (DAS) stipends based on overall point totals from the current IBSA point ranking rosters in monthly increments (based on the quarterly IBSA point rankings review period) as outlined in the pay scale below:

    • Top US IBSA point earner as of the quarterly review date - $1000/ quarter

    • Second highest US IBSA point earner as of the quarterly review date - $900/quarter

    • Third highest US IBSA point earner as of the quarterly review date - $800/quarter

    • If there are any ties, both athletes will receive the higher amount but there will not be an opportunity for a 4th slot selected discretionarily

    • The 4 evaluation dates will be: March 1, June 1, August 1, and November 1 to align with major IBSA Ranking events

* To be eligible for stipends, athlete must be actively training and competing with the intent to qualify for Team USA for the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games.

 

 

Funding For Tournaments

For all 2019 Paralympic Qualifying Events:

  • Fully Funded

    • Finished top 7 at the 2018 World Championships
    • OR

    • Have Medaled at a IBSA A level event in the last two years

  • Partial Funding:

    • Be listed on the USA Judo National Paralympic Roster with a minimum of four (4) international points at C level tournaments or higher.
    • * Non-funded athletes that do not meet the above criteria and win at least three (3) matches including no walk over(s) and/or buy(s) will be reimbursed airfare expenses for that tournament.

2019 Germany Open:

  • Partial Funding:

    • If an athlete is ranked 1-20 on the IBSA World Ranking roster, the athlete will receive housing for this event.
    • * Non-funded athletes that do not meet the above criteria and win at least three (3) matches including no walk over(s) and/or by(s) will be reimbursed airfare expenses for that tournament.

 

Performance Incentive Funding *

  • 2019 IBSA Qualification Tournament (June 30-July 6)
    • Gold medal- $5000
    • Silver medal- $4000
    • Bronze medal- $3000
    • Fighting for a medal- $2000
    • Top-7 finish- $1000 (must have finished at top 50% of weight class)
  • 2019 IBSA Grand Prixs- Azerbaijan (May 13-14) & Uzbekistan (Oct. 11-12)
    • Gold medal- $3500
    • Silver medal- $3000
    • Bronze medal- $2500
    • Fighting for a medal- $1000
  • 2019 Lima PPAGs- (must be at least 6 athletes in weight class to be eligible)
    • Gold medal- $1000
    • Silver medal- $700
    • Bronze medal- $500
