2020 Infantil Pan Am Team Criteria


Pan American Infantil Championship: San Juan, Puerto Rico on November 14-15, 2020

Juvenile (Sub 15) (Birth Years 2006-2007)

Intermediate (Sub 13) (Birth Years 2008-2009)


In 2020 there will be Pan American Continental Championships held for “Infantil” age athletes (Juvenile and Intermediate).


The age divisions for 2020 include birth years 2006-2007 for the Juvenile “Sub 15” category, and birth years 2008- 2009 for the Intermediate “Sub 13” category, each of which will compete at the 2020 Infantil Pan American Championships.

•   The contested weights for Juvenile (Sub 15) will be: Girls / Boys -36, -40, -44, -48, -53, -58, -64 and +64kg

•   The contested weights for Intermediate (Sub 13) will be: Girls / Boys -28, -31, -34, -38, -42, -47, -52 and +52kg


The 2020 Infantil Pan American Championships will be held on November 14th and 15th, 2020 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.


September 1, 2020

USA Judo is happy to announce that on September 1, 2020, the top four athletes in each division from the USA Judo National Ranking Rosters will be invited to represent USA the sequence that will identify the members of the 2020 Infantil “Sub 15” and “Sub 13” Pan American Team.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible for the 2020 “Sub 15” Juvenile Pan American Judo Team, you must have been born 2006-2007, you must be a United States citizen, you must be a member of USA Judo, and if you are a recent citizen or hold dual citizenship, you must have secured the necessary approvals to be eligible to represent the United States internationally.

In order to be eligible for the 2020 “Sub 13” Intermediate Pan American Judo Team, you must have been born 2008-2009, you must be a United States citizen, you must be a member of USA Judo, and if you are a recent citizen or hold dual citizenship, you must have secured the necessary approvals to be eligible to represent the United States internationally.


HOW TO MAKE THE TEAM

The four athletes who are the most highly ranked eligible athletes in each Juvenile and Intermediate weight category on the USA Judo National Roster as of September 1, 2020 will be designated the “Sub 15” or “Sub 13” Pan American Team members. In the event that one or more of the highest ranked individuals decline their spots on the team, then the selection sequence will move down the September 1, 2020 roster, until the spots are filled. If athletes request to move to a different weight division that they do not have points in, they will have to wait until the end of the open spot request period. At the end of the open spot request period, requests will be reviewed and awarded in order of highest ranking athletes in the division in question first, and so on. The open spot request deadline will be announced once the official event outlines have been shared.
