After movement in recent weeks, both the men’s and women’s side of the Olympic Golf Ranking stayed steady for Team USA last week with Justin Thomas (men’s) and Nelly Korda (women’s) leading the way.
The end of the Olympic Golf Ranking qualification period is now inside two months as the men’s qualification will conclude on June 21 with the women’s ending on June 28.
Of players near the top of the American aspect of the Olympic Golf Ranking, Thomas had the highest finish last week with a T13 mark at the Valspar Championship. Thomas remains the top-ranked player in the men’s Olympic Golf Ranking ahead of Spaniard Jon Rahm (No. 2), and a trio of Americans to round out the top-five (Xander Schauffele, Bryson DeChambeau and Collin Morikawa). On the men’s side, Thomas, Schauffele, DeChambeau and Morikawa are currently in position to represent Team USA, but Patrick Reed (No. 7), Webb Simpson (No. 9) and Brooks Koepka (No. 10) lurk a few spots behind.
On the women’s side, Nelly Korda (No. 4) continues her reign as the top-ranked American woman, ahead of Danielle Kang (No. 6), Lexi Thompson (No. 9) and Jessica Korda (No. 14). Jennifer Kupcho (No. 15) sits one slot back of the top-four, while Austin Ernst comes in at No. 17.
The top-15 world-ranked players will be eligible for the Olympics in Tokyo this summer, with a limit of four players from a given country. Beyond the top 15, players will be eligible based on the world rankings, with a maximum of two eligible players from each country that does not already have two or more players among the top-15.
