HOCKEY 5s RULES


RULES BRIEFINGS

Annually, outdoor and indoor rules briefings are conducted. All briefings are posted online for educational purposes. The Outdoor Rules Briefing is produced in early August of each year and covers rule updates, trends and changes to processes and protocols. The Indoor Rules Briefing is produced in late November or early December each year and covers the indoor version of the game with the same rule updates, trends and changes to processes and protocols.


PURCHASE RULE BOOKS & JUMP-IN BOOK

USA Field Hockey Outdoor and Indoor Rule Books are available for purchase. These Rule Books are updated every two years with rule modifications and changes from the International Hockey Federation (FIH). The 2019-20 print editions of the rule books, which came into effect on January 1, 2019, will be sent to all USA Field Hockey Umpire Members. The option to purchase a USA Field Hockey Outdoor and/or Indoor Rule Book can be found below.

Jump In Books are the beginner's guide to umpiring field hockey. This 22-page booklet will give anyone the confidence to Jump In to umpiring! Learn the USA Field Hockey way of umpiring with a consistent, clear and concise educational package to get you started on the pitch. *Package includes: Jump In book, whistle and set of warning cards. JUMP IN BOOKS ARE CURRENTLY SOLD OUT.



FIH RULES OF HOCKEY APP

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) launched a free ‘Rules of Hockey’ app for iOS and Android smartphones.

The app details the official FIH Rules of Hockey 2019, providing officials, players and fans with an easy-to-use and accessible resource.

The app, which will be constantly updated to reflect approved Rule and Regulations amendments, also includes helpful quizzes to help users learn about the rules that govern the game of hockey. It has been launched with a view to replace printed Rule Books previously distributed from FIH’s headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.
