Region 8: South is one of the largest and most diverse geographical regions and it includes Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. Each state within the region is unique - Virginia is the only state in Region 8 which field hockey is currently sanctioned at the high school level. Virginia is also home to outstanding college programs and multiple clubs offering year-round playing for boys and girls of all ages. North Carolina is one of the hotspots of field hockey. It's one of the fastest growing states, with top college programs, strong clubs for boys and girls, and an increasing number of high school programs. As a result, USA Field Hockey formed pilot State Chapters in both North Carolina and South Carolina in December 2020. New clubs are forming in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina, and there's been interest in starting programs in Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisiana. All those interested in helping grow the game in Region 8: South, can reach out to sportdevelopment@usafieldhockey.com
