Club Description

The Forest Hills Field Hockey Club was founded in 2007 by Andrea Shaner after her girls' lacrosse players asked to learn the sport of field hockey. The team's first "season" consisted of practicing in Ada Park and holding a scrimmage against East Grand Rapids. However, the seed had been planted, and in 2008, FH2 joined the Michigan High School Field Hockey Association. Since then, nearly 100 girls representing five high schools (and four international players) have been a part of our programs. After finishing 2011 as the Division IV runners-up, the FH2 varsity girls captured their first division title in 2012. After a league realignment, the varsity team reached the Division II state championship game in 2013, in addition to winning medals at both the State Games of Michigan and State Games of America. Now, having firmly planted itself in the Michigan field hockey landscape, Forest Hills is a fixture near the top of Division II. Even more exciting is a relationship with the Australian club Hockey Albury Wodonga, which allowed a team of 18 players to tour Down Under in the summer of 2015. The club has grown to offer new opportunities with a junior varsity team, along with a rapidly-growing middle school program for grades 5-8. It's a great time to get into field hockey in West Michigan!
