Action Continues at 2022 WMH World Cup in Tokyo

TOKYO, Japan - Action continues at the 2022 World Masters Hockey (WMH) World Cup in Tokyo, Japan following the third and fourth days. The U.S. O-65 Men's Masters Team picked up a tie and win, while the O-65 Men conceded two losses.

O-60 Men 2 - 2 Scotland

The U.S. O-60 Men's Masters Team faced a tough opponent in Scotland in their third pool game.


USA dominated the first quarter and went up 2-0 through two outstanding follow-ups. The first was a rasping shot by Mahesh Saraswat (Northridge, Calif.), for his second goal in three games, and then a quick reaction flick by captain Manzar Iqbal (Nashville, Tenn.) gave the red, white and blue a 2-0 lead.


USA's pressure continued until a few minutes before halftime. Scotland then converted a penalty corner to go into the halftime break 1-2.


USA lost their shape and composure in the second half, and allowed Scotland to take control. With 5 minutes to play, USA conceded a penalty stroke from a clumsy tackle, and goalkeeper Jon O'Haire (Millersport, Ohio) could not stop the chance.

O-65 Men 1 - 7 Japan

In their third pool game, the U.S. O-65 Men took on Japan.


Japan notched the first four goals of the game, before USA got on the board through a Todd Koch (Quakertown, Pa.) field goal. Japan went on to tally three more for the final.

O-60 Men 2 - 1 South X Spirit of Masters

The U.S. O-60 Men's Masters Team, collected their second win over South X Spirit of Masters.


USA broke the deadlock in the 26th minute off a field goal from William Larkins (Manchester, N.H.). The red, white and blue extended their lead in the 41st minute when Joost Douwes (Stanwood, Wash.) added his name.


South X added one back in the 61st minute off a penalty corner, but USA held on for the win.


The O-60 Men will play Malaysia in their final pool game on Tuesday, October 25 at 5:15 a.m. ET.


O-65 Men 0 - 14 Australia

It was a tough meeting for the U.S. O-65 Men's Masters Team went then met Australia.


Scoreless through the first 13 minutes, Australia broke open the scoring and never looked back, tallying 10 field goals and four penalty corners.


The O-65 Men will take on Malaysia on Monday, October 24 at 8:30 p.m. ET.
