COVID-19 & USA Field Hockey Events Update

Nov. 24, 2020, 12:04 p.m. (ET)

USA Field Hockey recognizes that many upcoming events could potentially be impacted by the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The health, safety and well-being of all members and the field hockey community is our primary concern, and we appreciate your support as the organization works to get athletes, coaches, staff, umpires and families safely back to field hockey.

This has been a very challenging year for all. The last thing USA Field Hockey wants to do is postpone or cancel field hockey programs and events. We are doing our best to continue to closely monitor the spread and changes regarding COVID-19 and to make good, smart decisions regarding upcoming events and associated travel for all parties.

As we look ahead to upcoming USA Field Hockey Events, here’s a brief update on tournaments scheduled for December through March. We will continue to provide updates on a regular basis.

National Indoor Tournament Qualifiers

Taking place December 19, 2020 to January 24, 2021, the National Indoor Tournament Qualifiers, presented by YOLO Sportswear, are currently scheduled to be hosted at nine sites across the country. Being regional events, USA Field Hockey is working with host sites and local and state health authorities, with guidance from federal mandates, to abide by restrictions. This event has a lot of moving parts and USA Field Hockey is still working through a plan of possibilities. More information will be provided as soon as possible.

Disney Field Hockey Showcase

USA Field Hockey has been diligently working with Disney to determine if this annual sanctioned event, scheduled to be held at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Kissimmee, Fla. from January 29 to 31, 2021 will be able to take place as scheduled. More information will be provided as soon as possible.

National Indoor Tournament

The 2021 National Indoor Tournament, presented by YOLO Sportswear, is still currently scheduled to take place over three weekends from February 12 to 28 at Spooky Nook Sports in Lancaster, Pa. and Greater Richmond Convention Center in Richmond, Va. More information will be provided as soon as possible.

National Indoor Festival

The newest indoor event, the 2021 National Indoor Festival, presented by YOLO Sportswear, is scheduled to take place February 13 to 15 at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Va. This event will be offered to U-12 Co-Ed, U-14 Girls, U-16 Girls, U-19 Girls, U-19 Boys, Men and Women divisions. The NIF has been modeled after the National Hockey Festival, where different age divisions have the opportunity to gather over a weekend in the same location to enjoy and play the sport. More information will be provided as soon as possible.

There are many contingencies and much uncertainty that still lingers surrounding mandates and restrictions for events, including both indoor and outdoor sporting events. USA Field Hockey is optimistic about a safe return to play in the weeks and months ahead and will communicate information to club administrators on our next scheduled call on December 2, 2020.
