CHARLOTTE, N.C. – February 14, 2020 – The first Boys Blast Series, which took place January 18 to 20 in Miami, Fla., set the platform for the growing initiative to support the growth of the game for boys. The inaugural weekend included 12-years-old and older participants partake in the three-day event which included a clinic followed by an all-boys series of competitive matches.
“What a great weekend of boys hockey at the first Boys Blast Series,” said Rutger Wiese, U.S. Men’s National Team Head Coach. “This series started in a way that’s very promising for the future and I’m looking forward to seeing the progress and expansion to come. A huge thank you to the Miami organization.”
USA Field Hockey is pleased to announce the second Boys Blast Series will take place at Queens University’s Bessant Field in Charlotte, N.C. from April 3 to 5.
USA Field Hockey, in conjunction with East Coast High Performance (ECHP) and supporting clubs Doral, Key Biscayne and Charlotte Ambush, are excited to continue partnership put in place to implement the series of boys only tournaments for 2020 across the East Coast. There is one more boys dedicate tournament set to take place this year in Greenwich, Conn. The Boys Blast Series features clinics led by top male coaches and a series of boys competitive matches. These tournaments are for boys aged 12+ and the objective is to support USA Field Hockey in growing field hockey in the United States through increasing participation across all abilities. These tournaments are structured to provide "serious fun" with teams and also those competing.
