GREENWICH, Conn. – October 7, 2019 – This weekend, more than 60 athletes will be participating at the Junior U.S. Men’s National Team Talent Identification and Training Camp. This year’s camp will be taking place at Sacred Heart Greenwich in Greenwich, Conn. from October 12 to 14 and will be held in conjunction with a Junior USMNT training weekend.

Athletes who are attending will be coming from across the United States, including Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Indiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Virginia in addition to Washington D.C. This year’s camp will also feature athletes traveling from as far as China and The Netherlands.

In addition, selected athletes who are arriving early for the Talent Identification and Training Camp will be joined by members of the U.S. Men’s National Team. Together, they will team up and participate in two friendly scrimmages against the U.S. Women’s National Team in preparation for their FIH Olympic Qualifier against No. 9 India on November 1 and 2. These friendly games will take place on Thursday, October 10 at 1:00 p.m. ET and Friday, October 11 at 10:00 a.m. ET. The matches will not be live streamed.

The main goal of the Talent Identification and Training Camp is to discover athletes who, at an early age, show promise for future success at the top-tier of the sport. The Talent Identification Camp is the first step for any young male field hockey player (age 12 to 19) hoping to enter the U.S. Men’s National Team Olympic Development Pipeline and reach the highest levels of competition.

The Junior USMNT Talent Identification and Training Camp is instructional with a focus on providing insight into what is required of elite athletes and the tools to achieve success at the international level. The camp also assists in selecting athletes for the U.S. U-16, U-18 and U-21 Men’s National Teams. The schedule consists of five training and evaluation sessions over three days. Highlights include instruction from some of Team USA’s finest coaches.

USA Field Hockey would like to welcome all of this year’s participating athletes and send best wishes in pursuing their field hockey passion!
