Seattle to Host Second Annual Social Tournament in August

May 13, 2019, 4:44 p.m. (ET)

SEATTLE – May 13, 2019 – Following the success of the first ever Seattle Field Hockey Social (SFHS) tournament in August 2018, the organizing committee and the Seattle field hockey community are pleased to host the second annual tournament on August 10-11, 2019.

The 2018 SFHS brought together more than 160 field hockey players for a weekend of fun social hockey to celebrate and grow the game in the Pacific Northwest. Players traveled from British Columbia, California, Oregon, Hawaii, Maryland, New Jersey, and Washington to participate in the tournament.

The format of the 2019 SFHS will be a social 7v7 tournament located at Marymoor Park in Redmond, Wash. from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. PT both days. The tournament will host three divisions: men's, women’s and mixed. Players can participate in up to two divisions with their registration fee of $60, which includes a ticket to the Saturday night party, and can register as individuals or teams.

Given the social nature of the tournament, there will be no scorekeeping and teams are encouraged to come up with creative uniforms and costumes. There will also be food trucks and a beer garden for ages 21 and over located close to the fields for players and spectators.

“Our tournament was inspired by the many tournaments our teams have traveled to over the years," a spokesperson of the organizing committee said. "Our committee pulled together the highlights from each to build a tournament in Seattle that people would be excited to play in."

Additionally, all teams are invited to attend the Saturday night party at Art Marble 21 in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood. The party will feature a full buffet, free raffle prizes, arcade games and billiards. Dinner tickets will be available for purchase by non-player guests.
