June 26, 2019, 1:09 p.m. (ET)

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - June 26, 2019 – With the summer events already underway, it’s hard to believe that indoor season is a few months away! With indoor approaching, USA Field Hockey is proud to announce the host locations for the 2020 Sheetz National Indoor Tournament Qualifiers (NITQ), presented by YOLO Sportswear, for the U-16 and U-19 Girls divisions. The qualifying period will kick off Saturday, December 14, 2019, with more than 550 teams competing at a total of 35 different qualifier locations over the following weeks, battling for spots in the 2020 Sheetz National Indoor Tournament (NIT), presented by YOLO Sportswear.

Online registration for the U-16 and U-19 Girls Division NITQ will open on Wednesday, September 11 at 12:00 p.m. ET. USA Field Hockey will be sending communications by email to all Member Clubs with more detail on Wednesday, August 14. Stay tuned for more updates.

For 2020, the number of qualifiers in the U-16 and U-19 Girls age groups will be changing. The number of qualifiers for the U-16 age division will increase to 19 total sites while the U-19 age division will decrease to 16 total sites. These changes will help accommodate the increasing interest and participation in the U-16 Girls NITQ and NIT, as well as the increased demand for spots in the Men’s and Women’s Divisions at the NIT in Richmond, Va. The reduction in U-19 Girls NITQ will only slightly decrease the total number of participating teams for the NIT. For both U-16 and U-19 NITQ, there will also be ten spots available in each age group through a lottery process, once all automatic qualifiers have been determined. More details to come on how teams will be selected for these spots.
