LANCASTER, Pa. - June 14, 2019 - The USA Field Hockey Membership and fans have had their say! Following an online voting process the new women’s Junior High Performance (JHP) program's “Over-16 and Attending High School” team has been renamed USA Rise.

“Rise was the overwhelming winner of the public vote which is appropriate as it captures the idea of continued growth and aligns with the goals of the JHP environment which bring development to the forefront," said Phil Edwards, USA Field Hockey's Senior Manager of Junior High Performance.

Over the past week, USA Field Hockey's Membership and field hockey fans were able to cast votes once per day for their choice of the team name. The renaming of the team follows the announcement of the realignment of girls age groups and the U.S. Women’s National Team Olympic Development Pathway for 2019-20. To better align with international standards and the field hockey competition calendar in the United States, the U.S. U-17 Women’s National Team will change to U-16. The U-19 USWNT will also be reformatted to athletes who are over the age of 16  but still attending high school. The changes also correspond with the goals of the USA Field Hockey American Development Model (ADM), which aims to best fit an athlete’s age and stage of development.
