June 06, 2019, 9:30 a.m. (ET)

LANCASTER, Pa. – June 6, 2019 - Every summer, the top field hockey athletes in the country are selected to compete at the National Futures Championship (NFC), presented by Harrow Sports, held at Spooky Nook Sports in Lancaster, Pa. Taking place this year from June 20 to 28, NFC is the premier championship event for USA Field Hockey’s Futures Program and Olympic Development Pathway. Athletes in the U-16 and U-19 Girls age divisions are selected at their respective Regional Futures Tournaments, presented by Harrow Sports, to compete at the NFC on their Regional Teams. Each Regional Team is made up of a roster of 18 athletes that are coached by top coaches in their area.

Prior to the NFC, each Regional Team gathers for a weekend-long Regional Training Camp, in order to prepare for the upcoming event. During the training weekend, athletes participate in practices and team bonding activities with their assigned NFC coaches and fellow teammates. This training weekend for all of USA Field Hockey’s nine regions will take place during the first few weekends in June depending on the selected athletes’ region. During this time, more than 400 athletes will train on their Regional Teams in preparation for the National Futures Championship.

USA Field Hockey and the Futures Program want to wish all athletes and dedicated coaches the best of luck at their weekend’s Regional Training Camps.
