BALTIMORE - February 6, 2019 - USA Field Hockey is pleased to share that USA Umpire Suzi Sutton will cover the topic "Conversing Effectively for Players, Coaches and Umpire" at the 2019 USA Field Hockey Summit, presented by AstroTurf. Summit will be held March 15-17 at the Lord Baltimore Hotel in Baltimore and will welcome administrators, coaches, umpires and sponsors for a weekend of education, networking, collaboration and fun.

Sutton resides in Lancaster, Pa and E. Palo Alto, Calif. She played at Dallastown High School and received a scholarship to play at Northwestern University. Injury hampered her playing career, but she found opportunity to stay involved with the sport through coaching and umpiring.

Luckily, Sutton got spotted umpiring in 2008, and the umpiring community helped her to earn her international badge. She has umpired all over the world since 2010 with her most recent tournaments being the Asian Games Olympic Qualifier in Indonesia and 2018 Champions Trophy in China.

Sutton loves to give back to other field hockey lovers who thrive from the sense of community in the sport by sharing her umpiring story of Faith, embracing opportunities, sacrifices, mistakes and ultimately self-defined successes serving a game we love. Beyond the hockey pitch, she takes pride in being a volunteer firefighter at Lafayette Fire Company and runs the 1860s Waterfall Retreat vacation home in Lancaster, Pa. with the support of loving family that also umpires.
