Sharon Pfluger became the first coach in NCAA Division III history and just the fourth coach in NCAA history to earn her 600th career victory Tuesday night as The College of New Jersey field hockey team defeated FDU-Florham 4-2. The win is the seventh straight for the fourth-ranked Lions, who improved to 10-1 on the season. The Devils fell to 11-3 on the year.

TCNJ looked to be in control of the game early, scoring on a penalty stroke from Jackie Schwartz in the 25th minute. About six minutes later Cayla Andrews scored in her fourth straight game off a feed from Tori Hannah to put the Lions up 2-0 at the half. The Lions held a 6-3 shot advantage in the opening frame.

The Devils would come back to tie the game just under eight minutes into the second half. Maggie Sohns snapped the Lions shutout streak at 392 minutes, 2 seconds. Sohns would then assist on the tying goal.

TCNJ used a timeout to regroup and would answer in the 49th minute. Sidney Padilla ripped a shot that deflected off an FDU-Florham defender and into the back of the goal. The Lions added an insurance goal in the 69th minute when Tori Tiefenthaler had an initial shot saved and Tori Hannah dove for the loose rebound hitting the ball just past the outstretched stick of the goalkeeper.

Maddie Beaumont made three saves to earn the victory in net.

TCNJ out-shot FDU-Florham 20-8 and held a 9-2 advantage in penalty corners.

The Lions return home Saturday for a top-10 clash when they host eighth-ranked Montclair State at 1:00 p.m. ET.
