Three Ancillary Events to Keep on Your Festival To Do List

Nov. 19, 2018, 11:21 a.m. (ET)

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. – November 19, 2018 – It is hard to believe that only three days remain until the largest field hockey tournament of the calendar year kicks off in Palm Beach County, Fla. With multiple additions to the 2018 National Hockey Festival, presented by CranBarry, on schedule, here are three key ancillary events you will want to keep on your radar and to-do list this weekend:

1. Annual General Membership Meeting | Friday, November 23 | 12:00 p.m. ET

Join USA Field Hockey’s Executive Director Simon Hoskins at the FUNdamental Field Hockey Field 12 on the second day of Festival for an open forum and discussion of the state of USA Field Hockey, programs, open membership topics and more. Take part in sharing feedback and collaboration in USA Field Hockey's continuing mission to Grow the Game, Serve Members and Succeed Internationally. All USA Field Hockey Members are welcome to join and participate. 2. Offensive/Defensive Skills Demonstrations with Jamie Dwyer and Robert Van der Horst | Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24 | 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. ET

Two legends of field hockey are available to learn from on Field 12 during Festival. Jamie Dwyer, a former member of Australia's Men's National Team, will be running two offensive skills demonstrations to al interested individuals at 11:00 a.m. this Thursday and Friday. At 2:00 p.m. each day, Robert Van der Horst, defender for The Netherlands, will be running a defensive skills demonstration. Don’t miss this opportunity to meet and learn from two of the best players in the history of the game! The demonstrations and clinics are open schedule for players to come and go as their Festival schedule allows. All are welcome. Interested parties are highly encouraged to bring cameras and autograph materials!

3. All-Boys Festival Games | November 22-24 | 3:15 and 4:15 p.m. ET

USA Field Hockey is looking for male volunteers to play with and/or against this U-17 boys team. Games will be played on Thursday, November 22 at 3:15 p.m. ET, Friday, November 23 at 4:15 p.m. ET and Saturday, November 24 at 3:15 p.m. ET. These times were selected because general tournament play finishes at 2:50 p.m. so there’s no conflict with adult tournament play, coaching or recruiting.

The games will be a 7v7 half field format, but this may change based on the number of interested participants. Length and number of games will depend upon interest, but a minimum of one game per day will be played.
