USA Field Hockey Summit Program Published Online

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - March 15, 2018 - The full program for the inaugural USA Field Hockey Summit, presented by AstroTurf, is now available online. Featuring a wide range of expertise and topics, don't miss a single moment at the Lord Baltimore Hotel from Friday, March 16 to Sunday, March18 as field hockey enthusiasts, club administrators, umpires, coaches and more unite for a weekend of education, networking and inspiration.

Stakeholders in the sport including coaches and umpires of all levels, school and club administrators, sponsors and vendor will have the opportunity to attend 25+ breakout sessions featuring some of the top experts in field hockey and sporting world. It’s also your last chance to register for Saturday night’s Hall of Fame and Awards Gala, presented by STX. The USA Field Hockey Hall of Fame, the ultimate honor in the sport, will induct three new members this year: Steve Danielson, Keli Smith Puzo and Amy Tran Swensen. This year's Honorary Members are Helen Allen and Barb Carreiro. Additional awards will be presented in five different categories to Matthew Kogut, Jean Lipski, Carolyn King Robitaille, Suzi Sutton and Windy City Field Hockey. Pre-Summit events began yesterday prior to the official start of Summit with a free Learn to Play Field Hockey Clinic at the UA House at Fayette for boys and girls ages 5+.


Today kicked off the start of the Coach Education Program Pre-Summit offerings with the sold-out Level 2 Instructional Coaching Clinic led by Jeremy Cook and Craig Parnham. Tomorrow the sold-out Level 1 Instructional Coaching Clinic will take place, led by Katie and Marvin Bam.


Friday highlights also include a free Umpire Clinic with special guest, Craig Gribble, International Hockey Federation's (FIH) Officials and Appointments Manager, and an opportunity to learn about efficiencies in club management with special guest Matt Esposito, Ai Group Lead Developer and Customer Support. Also included is "Field Hockey Fields Explained" session, presented by AstroTurf. Friday night’s Welcome Reception is presented by espnW and will feature welcome addresses by USA Field Hockey's Executive Director Simon Hoskins and legendary University of Maryland Head Coach Missy Meharg.


Saturday starts with an early morning on-field workout led by U.S. Women’s National Team athletes and sisters Carissa and Michelle Vittese. Breakout sessions will be held throughout the day and include a keynote address by Denise Parker, Vice President of National Governing Bodies Service for the United States Olympic Committee. Coaches of all levels will learn from U.S. Women’s National Team Head Coach Janneke Schopman and Assistant Coach Phil Edwards, in addition to USA Field Hockey's Director of Coach Education and Learning Craig Parnham, and many more. Umpire education features USA Field Hockey's Director of Umpiring Steve Horgan, and top-rated umpires like Maggie Giddens Whit Ryan, Suzi Sutton, and more. 


Sunday features early morning "Yoga for Hockey" with three-time Olympian Rachel Dawson, with more breakout sessions later in the day including umpiring and coaching panels. Lastly, join Baltimore City sports leaders and USA Field Hockey for a discussion about growing the game and providing sustainable playing opportunities in Baltimore and beyond. This special session will be held from 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. ET.
