USA Field Hockey’s Level 1 Instructional Coaching Clinic is an 8-hour offering and will be held at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa. on Saturday, July 21, from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m ET. This Level 1 is specifically designed for individuals with a basic knowledge and understanding of the game of field hockey.  Individuals who are brand new to the sport are welcome to attend, but may find it difficult as the course covers a broad range of topics in a short period of time.  This Level 1 clinic is the perfect opportunity for professional development and local networking. 


Participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis and space is limited.

Upon completion of the course, all participants will receive their Level 1 Coaching Certification. This certification will remain valid as long as your USA Field Hockey Coach Membership remains current. Certification will lapse without a current membership. Coaches interested in working in USA Field Hockey's Futures Program must have a Level 1 Certification and a current USA Field Hockey Coach Membership to be eligible to apply.

Instructor for this Level 1 Instructional Coaching Clinic:

Dalton Beaver | WNY Whalers Club Director | Level 1 Coach Educator  

Beaver has spent the last 15+ years specializing in elite field hockey training and is the current club director at WNY Whalers Club in Williamsville, N.Y. Her coaching experience includes many facets within USA Field Hockey including being a Level 2 Certified Coach and Trained Coach Educator.

Also involved within the high-performance realm, Beaver has been a USA Field Hockey Level 2 Futures Site Head Coach and Regional Junior High-Performance Coach.

Beaver has coached more than 50 athletes who went on to compete at the Division I, II and III levels and also has more than 11 years coaching at the high school varsity and junior varsity levels. In 2007 and 2010, she led the Williamsville North team to a New York State Championship.

Beaver played collegiately on a full-scholarship at Syracuse University.


Level 2 Instructional Coaching Clinic

USA Field Hockey’s Level 2 Instructional Clinic is a 14-hour offering that will be held on Saturday, July 21 from 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., and Sunday, July 22 from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa. This course will expand on several of the topics covered in the Level 1 Clinic and will challenge participants to further define and evaluate their individual coaching philosophies, styles, techniques and encourage self-assessment. Additionally, coaches will work in groups to share best practices and receive peer feedback in a comfortable and encouraging environment. 

USA Field Hockey Level 2 Instructional Clinic attendees will receive a Level 2 Certificate of Participation and, with a USA Field Hockey Membership, will be eligible to coach in USA Field Hockey programs including becoming a head coach of Futures and Junior Olympic Games (application process). Participants will also be able to advance further as we continue to expand offerings within USA Field Hockey’s Coach Education Program.

Instructor for this Level 2 Instructional Coaching Clinic:

Craig Parnham | USA Field Hockey's Director of Coach Education & Learning

Parnham is a five-time Olympian. He played in both the Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 Olympic Games for Great Britain, coached Great Britain in the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympic Games, and the United States in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. In total, Parnham has coached professionally for more than 20 years and is a qualified Level 4 Coach. He holds a post-graduate diploma in Elite Coaching Practice.




Tara Zollinger | Shippensburg University Head Coach

Zollinger is currently entering her second season as the head coach at Shippensburg University, after leading the Raiders to their second consecutive NCAA Division II National Championship in 2017.

She has been a staple in growing the game through USA Field Hockey having been a Futures Program head coach in Syracuse, N.Y. and she currently is a Level 2 Certified Coach. She is also a graduate of the NCAA Alliance of Women's Coaching Academy.

As an athlete, Zollinger played at the University of Maryland where she helped the Terrapins earn two NCAA Division I National Championships (2010, 2011) and two Atlantic Coast Conference titles (2009, 2010), while reaching the Final Four in all four of her collegiate seasons.

Zollinger was an assistant coach at Syracuse University where she aided in practice planning, technical development, scouting and video preparation, travel coordination and scheduling. One of Zollinger's primary on-field responsibilities included scouting and leading the penalty corner unit.
