USA Field Hockey Announces Andre Fountain as Summit Guest Speaker

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - January 11, 2018USA Field Hockey is pleased to announce that Andre Fountain, The Aspen Institute Project Coordinator in Sports and Society Program, will be a special guest at the inaugural USA Field Hockey Summit, presented by AstroTurf, in Baltimore, Md. Fountain, along with Kevin McCloskey, Coordinator of Athletics and Events for the Living Classrooms Foundation, and Sally Goggin, USA Field Hockey’s National Development Director, will discuss Project Play, the State of Play in Baltimore City and the initiatives and strategies to continue to grow the game in Baltimore. This session will take place at the conclusion of Summit on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. ET.


Andre Fountain
The Aspen Institute Project Coordinator in Sports and Society Program

Fountain is the Project Coordinator, Sports & Society Program at The Aspen Institute. In his role, he oversees Project Play: Baltimore, an initiative to improve youth sports opportunities in the city. Project Play: Baltimore represents the first model community effort by The Aspen Institute's Project Play. The vision of it is to help local leaders and caregivers provide youth with the opportunity to be active through sports.

Fountain co-authored the State of Play: Baltimore report, which is a resource guide that includes 40 exclusive findings on strengths and gaps in providing access to sport and a survey of nearly 2,000 youth on sport interests. He has hosted a series of community events to engage and connect local leaders on finding solutions to grow the quality and quantity of sport options for youth. Prior to his role at the Institute, he served as an account executive in inside sales for Monumental Sports and Entertainment.

Fountain believes in using the power of sports to capture hearts, challenge minds and change lives in a positive way. A native of Baltimore, Md., he has a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from Virginia State University. He also earned his Master’s Degrees in Business Administration and Sport Business Management from the renowned DeVos Sport Business Management Program of the University of Central Florida.
