USA Field Hockey will be featuring weekly spotlights of U.S. U-21 Women's National Team members selected to represent Team USA at the women's Hockey Junior World Cup 2016 (JWC).
She enjoys spending time with her sister and dog and checking out new foodie dives. She looks up to her grandma, not only for her awesome baking skills, but because she is someone who is in great physical shape for being 80 years old. She loves traveling and has a desire to visit more places. Meet U.S. U-21 Women's National Team member Kelsey Bing.
Kelsey is very close with her younger sister, Lindsay. They can talk for hours and when given the chance, they like to go shopping and look for new, delicious restaurants in Houston, Texas. She also likes to take her dog, Sadie, on long walks because she has endless energy. As well, she like to spend time with her grandma who lives 5 minutes away from her house. She said her grandmother is someone she look up to because she is very athletic and has a degree in biology. Though in her 80s, her grandma is probably in just as good (if not better) shape than she is. They always go to exercise classes together and will bake things like soft pretzels or a delicious chocolate-strawberry merengue cake.
One of her favorite hobbies is to travel. This past summer she went to Europe with some friends and had a blast. The group visited Amsterdam, Paris, Interlaken and Munich. She also traveled to Colorado where she hiked a mountain, kayaked around a lake and made s'mores. Her family tries to take a trip almost every year to a different locations. They often travel with her family friends, the Vogels, who are always a ton of fun. Some of the highlights have been when they went to Austin, Sea Island, Gunnison, Spain, Austria, China and Tanzania. She has always wanted to travel to either Australia or New Zealand.
Since she just started her freshman year at Stanford, she spends a lot of time outside. The weather in California is somewhat perfect so her and her friends will lay outside and listen to music, chat or read books. She enjoys watching Grey's Anatomy and Friends on Netflix too. She is hoping to major in Engineering at Stanford, but since she is only beginning her freshman year, she is not 100 percent what she'll choose academically just yet. She does know that she wants to pursue a degree in the math and sciences fields.
