Buenos Aires, Argentina - In the second match of their 5-game tour, the US Under-19 Men's team fell short against Argentina losing 3-1.
US fell behind early in the 7th minute as an Argentina penalty corner was deflected in by an American defender. US, lead by captain Liam Walsh who played a strong defensive game, trailed 1-0 at halftime with a chance to equalize before the break on a penalty corner shot by Johnny Orozco, which was blocked by an Argentine defense. According to US head coach Ben Maruquin, the first half was the best half of hockey he has seen this team play in their development preparation for the 2012 Junior Pan American Games.
Argentina started the second half quickly as they scored on another penalty corner in the 37th minute. Argentina out gained the US in penalty corners 7 to 1. US fought back in the 60th minutes as Tyler Sundeen's quick restart found Rishe Tewarie in the left corner for the assist to Ja Ja Kentwell diving field goal. Trailing 2-1, US continued to push forward trying to tie the match but was unsuccessful as a missed trap lead to an Argentina counter-attack goal which put the game out of reach in the 65th minute.
