Summer Bash at the Beach

USA Field Hockey is excited to announce that the Summer Bash at the Beach (SBB), presented by YOLO Sportswear, will return this year! A sanctioned event run by Hometown Sports, the Summer Bash at the Beach will take place Friday, July 15 through Sunday, July 17 at the Virginia Beach Regional Training Center in Virginia Beach, Va. In its seventh edition, this event will feature 7v7 play on both water-based and dry field turf surfaces and is open to the U-10 Co-Ed, U-12 Co-Ed, U-14 Co-Ed, and U-14 Girls divisions. Teams will be placed in a pool of like-rated teams and compete in a minimum of five matches.



Registration for the Summer Bash at the Beach will open on Friday, April 15, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. ET and close on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. ET, or when the event reaches its registration capacity. The cost is $850.00 per team for the three-day event and on a first-come, first-served basis.


If registration reaches capacity, a waitlist will be opened, and clubs should contact Madeline Hoeppner, USA Field Hockey’s Director of Events, at to reserve a spot. USA Field Hockey will first consider accepting clubs on the waitlist that do not yet have a team registered to increase club diversity at the event.



How: Pools will be seeded by in accordance to the USA Field Hockey team rating system. All teams will submit team ratings based on an honest assessment of their team's skill and the average years of experience their team collectively has playing field hockey during registration so that the USA Field Hockey National Office can create pools based on like ratings for a fun, competitive experience. A rerating period will be established at a later date so that clubs can adjust rating if necessary.


Divisions: The Summer Bash at the Beach will feature U-10 Co-Ed, U-12 Co-Ed, U-14 Co-Ed and U-14 Girls divisions. All divisions will still be run in a 7v7 competitive pool format in which scores will be kept and pool champions will receive awards.



The maximum roster size is 12 athletes. Co-Ed teams will not be able to play more than three (3) male players (goalkeepers excluded) at any given time during a game.
