Description of Position:  The head diving coach is expected to support Ouachita Baptist University’s mission of fostering a Christ – centered learning community.  Embracing the liberal arts tradition, and preparing athletes for ongoing intellectual and spiritual growth, lives of meaningful work, and reasoned engagement with the world. The Head Coach will be responsible for organizing and managing all phases of a NCAA Division II men’s and women’s diving program, including recruiting, team travel, strength & conditioning, student-athlete academic monitoring, meet scheduling, budget management, public speaking, and community/donor relations. This position will report to the head coach for the men’s & women’s swimming & diving programs and collaborate with assistant coach and athletic training staff.


  • Coaches all diving practices, meets, and dryland activities.
  • Manage all aspects of recruiting divers.
  • Oversee academic and personal well-being of all swimming & diving student-athletes.
  • Know and follow all NCAA Division II legislation for recruiting visits, PSA evaluations, communication with PSAs, and recruiting periods.
  • Assist with travel, study hall, and fundraising.
  • Other administrative duties as assigned.
  • Assist with upkeep and maintenance of all diving boards, harnesses, dry boards, and other equipment.
  • Maintain roster of 8 to 12 student athletes.

 Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities/Competencies:

  • Expertise in the technical aspects of 1-meter & 3-meter springboard
  • Ability to take direction from head coach of the men’s and women’s swimming & diving programs
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with coaches, administrators, student athletes, recruits, and vendors
  • Extremely organized, detail oriented, self-starter and intrinsically motivated
  • Strong management and leadership skills
  • Proven ability to multi-task effectively
  • Proficient computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets
  • Availability to work flexible work schedule including nights and weekends
  • Ability to travel with sport teams for away contests
  • Thorough knowledge of NCAA Division II rules, and procedures
  • Lifeguard Certified
  • Knowledge of how to facilitate diving meets

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Coaching experience in NCAA, any level
  • Coach experience - club diving or high school
  • Competition experience NCAA, any level

This position is responsible for overseeing the Diving portion of the program. The position exists to assist the Head Coach, Swim and Dive, with oversight over all duties related to administration, compliance and recruiting. The position includes creating and implementing training, (which may include strength and conditioning activities), while abiding by all federal, state, NCAA and University laws, rules and regulations. 

This position should have a basic knowledge of NCAA rules as it pertains to assigned job duties and the scope of employment. In addition, this position will be responsible for obtaining proper guidance or approval from Athletics Compliance, prior to participating in select activities, as defined by NCAA bylaws or institutional policies. 


This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university and a minimum of one (1) year of comparable professional experience with coaching experience at the NCAA level (intercollegiate).  Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.

Our facility has 2 1-meter boards, 2 3-meter boards, a trampoline on deck with a spotting belt, dry board, and a dryland indoor facility. The ideal candidate will have experience with NCAA rules and regulations, NCAA recruiting, and have a keen ability to coach and mentor all ability levels including national qualifiers, while understanding the rigors of the academic demands at FAU.


In addition, a successful candidate will develop daily, weekly, and seasonal training plans that are complemented by a comprehensive dryland program, partner with our strength and conditioning coaches to ensure the weight program is diving specific, and promote an inclusive culture and a positive environment that encourages student-athletes to strive for academic and athletic excellence.


Minimum Qualifications:

Experience with dryland training, including trampoline and dry board, is required.

Bachelor’s degree required.  Previous coaching experience.  Strong abilities to work in student-athlete development and their commitment to their athletic and academic success.  Work effectively with staff, alumni, and community members.
