USA Diving Features A Letter from Lee Mi...

A Letter from Lee Michaud, Newly Appointed President of USA Diving

By USA Diving | March 17, 2020, 2 p.m. (ET)

Dear USA Diving Members,

Although some of you may have seen the official announcement, I wanted to take a moment to personally introduce myself as the newly appointed President of USA Diving. Taking this position in a lot of ways feels like coming home, and the prospect of being able to give back to a sport that has given me so much is an indescribable feeling.

I began diving when I was ten and throughout my career, I had the opportunity to be a part of five National Teams as well as represent the United States at several international competitions. My memories from being a part of USA Diving have stayed with me through the years, and helped to shape who I have become. I can honestly say that I would not be who or where I am had I not been involved in diving. So much so that I tried to convince my daughter to dive. Ultimately, she chose swimming and played water polo for University of Michigan, but my passion for our sport has never wavered.

I know that I am coming to USA Diving at a challenging time for our organization and for the world around us.  I am confident that, together, we can navigate these challenges and come out the other side better and stronger. It is my hope and vision that together, we can re-energize the diving community throughout the U.S. and restore USA Diving to its former prominence.

With that in mind let me express just how proud I am to be of service to the athletes, coaches and membership of USA Diving.  I am excited to partner with all of you to honor our past, support our present and develop our future athletes.

My door is always open for members of our community to voice their opinions and concerns. Please feel free to e-mail me at president@usadiving.org.

Sincerely,

Lee Michaud

President, USA Diving
