USA Diving to Forgo the 2020 FINA Junior World Championships

July 17, 2020, 4 p.m. (ET)

USA Diving announced today that they will not be sending a team to the 2020 FINA Junior World Championships and consequently will not hold a Junior World Trials in 2020 due to the ever-changing landscape of the COVID-19 crisis.

This decision was made after examining several factors

1.    We are not willing to put our coach’s and athlete’s health in harm’s way.

2.    Many of our clubs are not able to get back in the water.

3.    U.S. Citizens are largely not allowed to travel internationally.

4.    Other national federations will also be forgoing this year’s competition.

We understand that this decision will be disappointing to our athletes, coaches, and parents but it is our duty to always protect the safety of our membership and do our part to protect the safety of our international diving community.
