David Colturi Wins Silver at FINA High Diving World Cup

David Colturi won the silver medal in men’s 27-meter high diving at the FINA High Diving World Cup on Sunday in Zhaoqing, China.

Colturi scored 400.20 points on his four dives to finish second behind Great Britain’s Gary Hunt, who won with 436.70 points. Romania’s Constantin Popovici was third at 397.60.

Colturi was in fifth place with one dive remaining and jumped to second with 135 points on his reverse double somersault with five twists, the most difficult dive performed in the contest.

USA’s Steven LoBue was sixth with 361.55 points, and Andy Jones scored 326.20 for ninth place.

Ellie Smart led the U.S. women with an eighth-place finish in 20-meter high diving. She finished with 264.55 points, 0.45 ahead of teammate Ginger Huber. Genevieve Bradley was 10th with 237.05 points. Australia’s Rhiannon Iffland won gold with 328.85 points, followed by Brazil’s Jaqueline Valente at 309.75 and Mexico’s Adriana Jiminez with 298.15 points.
