Lauren Reedy Leads USA On Day Five Of World University Games

Lauren Reedy (Rochester Hills, Mo./University of Missouri) finished seventh in the women’s 3-meter final to lead the U.S. on Saturday, the fifth day of competition at the World University Games in Naples, Italy.

Reedy scored 275.30 in the women’s 3-meter contest, which was won by China’s Wu Chunting at 351.85. Carolina Sculti (Rye, N.Y./Stanford University) also advanced to the 3-meter final and placed ninth with 267.25 points.

Reedy and Sculti advanced to the finals after placing third and fifth, respectively, in the Saturday morning semifinals.

Also on Saturday, Jacob Fielding (Los Angeles/Ohio State University) and Lyle Yost (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Ohio State University) scored 301.08 points to place 10th in men’s synchronized 3-meter. China’s Hu Zijie and Li Pingan won gold with 403.71 points.

Diving competition at the World University Games continues through July 8. Sunday’s competition features Yost, Jacob Cornish (Honolulu, Hawaii/Austin, Texas) and Jacob Siler (Knoxville, Tenn./Ohio State University) in the men’s platform preliminaries and Sculti and Daria Lenz (Altadena, Calif./Stanford University) in women’s synchronized 3-meter.  Cornish is also slated to dive with Abigail Knapton (Omaha, Neb./University of Nebraska) in mixed synchronized platform.
